Port 443 Inc. is an innovative software company in Burlington, ON whose SaaS web apps are used by thousands around the world. Our products help music teachers, tutors, and personal trainers manage their businesses & streamline admin work. Our team is full of problem solvers, strategic thinkers, donut eaters, and coffee drinkers. Ask an employee what brings them to work every day, and they would tell you it’s the free snacks. But they would also mention the amazing team environment, the opportunity to contribute to a diverse range of projects, and an open-minded atmosphere. The snacks definitely help though.

Today we have something to celebrate, and that’s Oscar celebrating his 1-year work anniversary! 🎉

Oscar is one of our software developers and a huge asset to the team (and our Super Smash 🎮 tournaments). From cracking us up with his humor to fearlessly taking on complex challenges, Oscar’s proven to be the ultimate Full Stack King. His multilingual skills – both in tech and Spanish – are just another reason we’re lucky to have him (shoutout from the dev team).

We asked Oscar what his best memories from the last year have been - being welcomed into the team, winning the Super Smash tournament and all the cool events have been highlights!

It's time to celebrate, because Anne is celebrating her 1-year work Anne-iversary! 🎉

Anne is one of our talented software developers (and unofficial gen Z translator). On top of contributing to a ton of important updates and features within our products she also brings some seriously positive vibes to the office every day without fail ☀️. Call her an Anne-fluencer too because got everyone hooked on Ninja Creami and bubble tea🧋.

Huge shoutout from the dev team who says that “Anne brings a lot of humour and joy to the dev side at the office. She’s enthusiastically jumped into helping with complex projects, brought strong communication and tech skills to lead projects and brings the tech team together. We’re luck to have her!”

We asked Anne what she has enjoyed about working at Port 443 the past year and here’s what she had to say:

“Looking back on an incredible year at Port 443, it's tough to pick a favorite memory! From spontaneous field trips with the amazing ladies on the tech team to driving up to Waterloo to interview co-op students, it's been a blast! Tasting unique coffee roasts with the coffee club has been a highlight ☕️, and who can forget our legendary refactor pizza party 🍕 [editor’s note: that Anne herself persuaded into happening]? On top of all the fun, I've had the opportunity to take on large-scale projects and responsibilities that made my work truly meaningful. Looking forward to many more memories ahead! ⚓️”

June is getting one more workiversary, and it’s another 1-year celebration! Raise a glass, tip your hat and put your hands together for marketing team member, Amarissa!

Amarissa is our Marketing Coordinator ✈️ which means she makes sure everyone has their passports updated and their bags, travel itineraries are written and swag is looking swagarific (is that a word?), but she doesn’t stop there! As the team extrovert, you can find her hyping up our products at shows, in group demos, on social media and with potential clients & partners – but she also keeps us hyped up at the office with the newest amazing idea, music, coffee or product 🔥 When she's not at the office you can usually find her riding horses, taking photos of sunsets or getting her car fixed (too soon?).

We asked Amarissa what her favourite memory is from this past year, and here’s what she had to say:

"The past year at Port:443 has been incredible! I'm so thankful to work with the best team of people, learn new things, and use my skills. Thinking back, it's impossible to pick one favourite memory from this year. Some that come to mind are going to trade shows, winning the pumpkin carving competition 🏴‍☠️🚢, serious and not-so-serious lunch chats, trying some great coffees, and eating more donuts than I've had in my lifetime. Honestly from my first day, I knew this was a place where I'd be valued and challenged to grow! I can't wait for the adventures to come ☺️🍩⚓️"

Port 443 is celebrating another work anniversary this month - congratulations Adam for being a part of the team for 1 year! 🎉

Adam is one of our Customer Success Specialists and he loves being on the phone! He’ll dive into complex customer questions & bugs without worry, and he’ll work nonstop until he gets them their answer. Not only is he resourceful when working on customer issues, he’s incredibly resourceful IRL too. You need glasses? He’s got a glasses guy. You need flowers? He’s got a flower guy. You need info on a website before signing up? He’s probably got a referral code! 😂

We asked Adam what the best part about working at Port 443 is and here's what he had to say:

"The people are the best part. We work hard but also have a great time! At Port 443, we’ve struck that rare balance. There’s always an interesting challenge or unique problem to tackle. Collaborating with people from all departments and brainstorming solutions is my favourite part. And, of course, the endless supply of snacks, coffee, lunches, and fun events keeps us going!"

We recently had another exciting work anniversary

We recently had another exciting work anniversary to celebrate - Jameela reached 1 year at Port 443 🎉

Jameela is one of our Customer Success Specialists, and her past experience as a teacher really shines through as she teaches our members new things about our products. Her joy and positive energy bring such good vibes to the office, and her unmatched patience makes her exactly the person you want to talk to on the phone if you've run into an issue (and then have many, many, many, many follow-up questions 😅). As a fabulous baker, one thing on Jameela's bucket list is to open up a boutique dessert shop. As long as she doesn't stop bringing in surprise treats for us, we can get behind this idea! 🧁

We asked Jameela what her favourite things about working at Port 443 are and here's what she had to say:

"My favourite part has to be the people! It wouldn't be the same without my team members, and one of the best things about my day is the time I get to spend with them. I also love the new learning experiences I get to have. From my onboarding right at the start up until now, there's always something I can learn - whether it's about the company, a new feature, being trained on a different area like product demos, or new tools. We have a lot of fun too. I've got to say my favourite memory is definitely the pumpkin carving competition! My team found a way to use our office coat rack to prop it up and made a whole Halloween scene out of it 🎃"

Today at lunch we held the finals of our first Port 443 Super Smash Bros tournament. All week we've had some pretty close battles, but after knocking out the competition, Oscar is taking home the trophy! 🏆

We've got something to celebrate... today Lauren is celebrating her 1 year workiversary! 🥳

Lauren is our Digital Marketing Specialist. You know when you see an ad for the exact thing you were just thinking about? Then scrolling on Facebook you see it again? Now it’s before YouTube videos? And when you’re playing Candy Crush? Is it magic? No, it's Lauren! 🪄 But she doesn't only oversee our online ads... She makes video tutorials to educate our customers about our products, shares updates & new releases on the blog, plans our in-office video game tournaments & birthday parties, and more! She brightens up any room she's in - and I don't just mean with her rainbow hair 🌈 We're so lucky to have had a year of Lauren's passion, expertise, and ideas and can't wait to see what the next year has in store! (We really hope it includes even more photos of her cat Rikki, though 😻)

We asked Lauren about her first year at Port 443 and here's what she had to say:

"It’s hard to narrow down what exactly the best thing is about working at Port 443. It could be the small business experience that always makes you feel like you’re contributing to something special, or it could also be the super cool people I get to work with every day. Perhaps it’s getting to do work that I love to do and seeing results that come from a project well done. Either that, or it’s the donuts 🍩 Some of my best memories from the past year have been getting to organize a MarioKart tournament, planning an office 10th birthday party, and celebrating 'Treasure Hunt Day', which are just some of the opportunities that have made working on the marketing team so rewarding."
